Black And White
Liverpool Ferry Terminal

The new ferry terminal at the Pier Head, winner of the Carbuncle Cup 2009 – it’s certainly a building that divides opinion.
West Kirby Walk

The walkway around the marine lake, West Kirby. It’s a great place to go if you need to clear your head – it’s very windy and exposed. As you can see in this photo, you can see for miles, all the way down the Welsh coast. I try to get over at least once a month, it’s one of my favourite places to take photos.
Chester Station – Black & White
Chester station is a proper old fashioned train station with long platforms, wide arches and these big pools of light – great place to take photos.
8.08

8.08 on the clock at St.James station, Liverpool. I just happened to be wandering past at this exact time when I noticed the time – doesn’t happen often.
Anglican from St.James Gardens

The Anglican Cathedral, shot from St.James Gardens, one of the city’s hidden gems. Definitely worth a quick explore if you’re ever in the area.
Talacre Lighthouse

The lighthouse at Talacre – the lighthouse is actually shifting which makes trying to get a straight horizon interesting.
Old Man Albert

Trying to enjoy the sun outside the Maritime Museum, this fella was snapped in exactly the same pose by a fellow Flickr user. Wonder if he knows he’s famous.
Day

Nestled in the side of a massive ventilation shaft, this is one of two statues, Day (the other being Night), carved from basalt they represent the never closing Mersey Tunnels. Photos really don’t do these statues justice, in real life they have both a glossy and a matte texture – very odd but very cool.
The ever changing waterfront

A snapshot of Liverpool’s ever changing waterfront. I started working in Liverpool about 11 years ago – a good two thirds of what is on this picture did not exist at that time. The change in just over a decade has been staggering and it’s still going – just out of shot are the ferry terminal, Echo Arena and the new buildings at Mann Island. The architectural merits of the new buildings are debatable but such investment in a city that stood still for so long is welcome.
a-ape

One of the a-ape installations dotted around the city as part of the Capital of Culture. a-ape use statistics to gain reactions from how people feel about living in Liverpool.
Casartelli Building, Duke Street

The Casartelli Building, Duke Street. This is not the original building – the original building was demolished after it fell into such a state of disrepair that it could not be saved. This new building was built to the exact layout as the old using as much material from the old building that could be saved.
Blindfolded Statue

Blindfolded Statue, Anglican Cathedral. There are a series of these statues, they remind me of the three wise monkeys – see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil. Really must find a co-operative guide and ask about them next time I’m in there.
The Cavern Pub

The Cavern Pub on Mathew Street – Mathew Street has a wall made out of bricks with Liverpool band names on – kinda cool.
