Liverpool City Centre
John Nelson Limited

No idea what this company is or was – I found this door in an alley off Dale Street and loved the textures in the wall and door and the old-fashioned lettering on the sign.
Knight Flyer

Cool poster I saw on Knight Street – after a bit of digging I sort of managed to track down the artist who produces these, his prints are available here.
Victoria Street Reflection

I love this building – reminds me of the Flat Iron building in New York. The big window that the reflection is in is a restaurant/wine bar place – was getting some funny looks from the barman trying to get this shot.
Grafton Street Graffiti Revisited

Graffiti on Grafton Street – Every single time I go past this wall there’s something added or changed, I love it. I particularly like the bokeh from the car and street lights on this shot, taken with a vintage 50mm lens.
Foggy Arch, Chinatown
The Chinese arch at the top of Chinatown, Liverpool, shrouded in fog just before the Chinese New Year celebrations. Any excuse to use the word shrouded.
8.08

8.08 on the clock at St.James station, Liverpool. I just happened to be wandering past at this exact time when I noticed the time – doesn’t happen often.
Pinball Wizard

Smashed up pinball machine, off Hardman Street. Terrible waste – I definitely would have had it!
Anglican from St.James Gardens

The Anglican Cathedral, shot from St.James Gardens, one of the city’s hidden gems. Definitely worth a quick explore if you’re ever in the area.
On Reflection

Reflection of the Royal Insurance building in office building opposite, North John Street. This is probably my favourite of all the photos I have taken.
Banksy

Banksy graffiti on the corner of Berry Street and Duke Street in Chinatown – depending on who you ask, this is either a rat or a cat. Cool either which way and one of the first things the council covered up at the start of Capital of Culture year (not for long thankfully, the irony was soon pointed out.)
John Lennon Statue, Mathew Street

John Lennon statue, Mathew Street, pictured in a rare moment without a tourist draped around him – poor lad.
Seel Street Graffiti

Graffiti on Seel Street – the smell from the rubbish here was unholy, a horrible mix of rubbish, sick and stale beer. Very quick snap and move.
Cropper Street Graffiti

Graffiti on Cropper Street, which is an unusual street as it seems quite quiet and then 10 black cabs hurtle through at severe speed – apparently it’s a well known taxi shortcut.
Web of Light Reflected

Ai Weiwei’s Web of Light installation at Exchange Flags, reflected in a puddle.
Web of Light

Ai Weiwei’s Web of Light installation at Exchange Flags in 2008. Somebody should have shelled out to keep this installation in place – Exchange Flags is a fantastic part of Liverpool that has been underused for decades and Web of Light brought people to look at these fantastic buildings. Opportunity missed.
Flyposters will be prosecuted

Paper based graffiti in the Ropewalks Quarter. Flyposting at it’s finest.
La Machine

La Machine, another part of Liverpool’s Capital of Culture celebrations. A massive mechanised spider that roamed Liverpool city centre, it was one of, if not the, highlight of the Capital of Culture year.
a-ape

One of the a-ape installations dotted around the city as part of the Capital of Culture. a-ape use statistics to gain reactions from how people feel about living in Liverpool.
