Liverpool Waterfront
Liverpool Ferry Terminal

The new ferry terminal at the Pier Head, winner of the Carbuncle Cup 2009 – it’s certainly a building that divides opinion.
The Crown Princess

The cruise liner Crown Princess visits Liverpool – it’s great to see the crowds that come out every time a big ship comes in, the liner terminal has created a lot of interest since it opened.
Queen Mary II

The Queen Mary II visits Liverpool – by far the largest thing to come since the new liner terminal opened, she made an impressive addition to the waterfront.
Hats Off…
Shot from when the QM2 was in town – can’t get enough of the big ships, the cruise liner terminal is one of the best things to have happened to the city in the past few years.
The only problem with this ship was it’s sheer size – everything else that comes in afterwards is going to look like a tiddler in comparison.
Liver Buildings Textured

Experiment with textures – trying to bring something a bit different to an often photographed scene.
Old Man Albert

Trying to enjoy the sun outside the Maritime Museum, this fella was snapped in exactly the same pose by a fellow Flickr user. Wonder if he knows he’s famous.
Day

Nestled in the side of a massive ventilation shaft, this is one of two statues, Day (the other being Night), carved from basalt they represent the never closing Mersey Tunnels. Photos really don’t do these statues justice, in real life they have both a glossy and a matte texture – very odd but very cool.
Another Place, Crosby

Antony Gormleys’ Another Place, Crosby. Difficult to try and get a different photo of this installation – it’s so photogenic that everyone seems to have a photo of it!
The ever changing waterfront

A snapshot of Liverpool’s ever changing waterfront. I started working in Liverpool about 11 years ago – a good two thirds of what is on this picture did not exist at that time. The change in just over a decade has been staggering and it’s still going – just out of shot are the ferry terminal, Echo Arena and the new buildings at Mann Island. The architectural merits of the new buildings are debatable but such investment in a city that stood still for so long is welcome.
Stormy Weather

Stormy weather off the coast at Crosby. This was taken on a very cold, very stormy January day at Crosby, one of the first shots I took with my Sigma 10-20 lens. Still love the different dimension it brings to photos.
